Dr. James Wymer is the Chief of the Neuromuscular Division and Professor of Neurology at the University of Florida where he specializes in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular diseases along with how the brain interacts with muscles in neuromuscular disease. Dr. Wymer serves as the Associate Director of Clinical Trials and Director of the ALS Multidisciplinary Care Team. Dr. Wymer started his career in Upstate New York where he worked as a neurologist and co-founded/directed Upstate Clinical Research for 10 years. Dr.’s Wymer and Plowman have multiple ongoing collaborations that include clinical trials in ALS, spinal muscular atrophy, oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD), and inclusion body myositis. Dr. Wymer serves as a Co-Investigator on Dr. Plowman’s currently funded from the ALS Association, the National Institute of Neurologic Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), and Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI).
